Passing of Blaine Cerveny

OBITUARY: Passing of Blaine Cerveny on Sunday, December 15, 2019,

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Blaine Cerveny on Sunday, December 15, 2019, at the age of 64 years.

Blaine grew up in Ponoka, Alberta. He began riding motorcycles at the age of 13 years old and it became his life long passion. He enjoyed touring western Canada and the United States on many different bikes.

Blaine received a degree in motorcycle mechanics and worked in several motorcycle businesses. He then moved into seismograph services before joining the Calgary Police Service, working 1 year in Police Communications and then 26 years as a city police constable.

Blaine had a big smile, a great sense of humour and always enjoyed a good story with friends and family.  

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Laura; sister, Ellen Mickey; brother, Brian Cerveny; sister, Phyllis Schimpf (David); brothers-in-law, Mitchell Hanger and Jason Hanger; nieces, Jacquie Jones (Peter), Janet Schultz (Cordell), Cheryl Drebit (Jack), Dana Cerveny and Kaitlyn Hanger; nephew, Markus Hanger; great nieces, Kailyn Jones and Bailee Jones; and great nephew, Rayce Schultz.

Blaine was predeceased by his parents, Elmer and Lydia Cerveny, and brother-in-law, Oliver Mickey. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Calgary Police Veteran Association Benevolent Fund or the charity of your choice.
