He married Pat on September 25th, 1965 and together they raised their children Kelly, Warren and Zoe, and their grandson Ivan. Clyde had a passion for adventure and lifelong learning. His life of ever-evolving careers began in earnest with the Canadian Army Artillery Apprentice Training Battery as a Soldier Apprentice in Shilo in 1957-58. He would go on to leave the military and sail around the world on the vessel “Vema”, only to rejoin the military in Shilo once again in the mid 1960’s. In 1976, Clyde returned to Nova Scotia and went to Navigation School in Halifax. He worked on the lake boats in Ontario, then worked for a short period of time aboard the fisheries vessel “Chebucto”. He left that job when he took over Scotia Boat Brokers, listing and selling boats. Clyde decided that it was never too late to continue your education, and started and finished Law School at Dalhousie University after the age of 40. He went on to practice law for 20 years. His hobbies continued throughout his busy life. He was private pilot, an avid sailor, and a decent marksman. He was a HAM operator for 47 years, and earned his Advanced Amateur Radio licence, most recently holding the callsigns VE1MM and VE1JNR. In 2001 The Navy League of Canada was in need of leadership for 357 Barrington Sea Cadets in order to remain open. Clyde rejoined the military, and served as Commanding Officer for two years. This final military service earned Clyde his twelve-year CD. He was very proud of this service award.
