Passing of Doug Taylor #2630

Sadly, I must inform you of the passing of our Friend and Brother, Doug Taylor. Doug has been battling cancer with dignity and courage for some time now and today, September 14, 2022, Doug passed away too soon at the age of 69. Doug’s wife, Karen Taylor (Parkin) Reg #2295, was at his side throughout and I know we stand by our fellow Veteran, Sister and Friend at her time of sorrow. 

Doug joined the CPS in March of 1982. When he “hit the street” six months later, he was 29 years old and met his first Officer Coach, a well-seasoned veteran of 5 years’ service (also 5 years his junior), yours truly. That was in B3, (Inglewood/Ramsay) and we soon had that special bond we all know between Recruit and Officer Coach, although I recall him teaching me a lot too, the 5 years difference in age was substantial back then. We were also on the same Strike Force team in 1989 and we used to race his “Iroc Camaro” with my “5.0 Litre Mustang” on the highways outside of town, much to the chagrin of the local RCMP. Apparently we both skipped the maturity portion of our Officer Coach phase, but those cars were fast! I was honoured to speak at his retirement party and told some great stories about our past experiences together at CPS. All were pretty funny and a couple were a little embarrassing for the both of us, but that’s what retirement parties are for. 
 
I will miss my friend and I know you will as well. At Doug’s request, there will be no Service or Celebration of Life. If you wish to reach out and send a message to Karen, please do so at her email address:  kct2295@gmail.com  (Not the reply key)
