Sadly, I have learned that our friend and brother, Ed Henderson, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep on April 12, 2025.  Ed was 82 years of age. Ed joined the CPS in 1977 and retired in 2007 after 30 years of service. Ed was the oldest member of Class 73 when he left a career as a Bank Manager at the age of 34 to become a Police Officer,  a drastic pay cut in those days.

Since many of us in Class 73 were in our late teens and early 20s, we looked up to Ed as a big brother as he was a calming influence on us.  His presence on the street after graduation continued with that respect from his fellow officers as he worked in various districts including a long time in the Domestic Conflict Unit. In the last few years of his life, Ed began attending the CPVA luncheons on a regular basis and it was great to see him meeting old friends and looking happy.

Ed was predeceased by his loving wife, Mary, in 2023.  He is survived by two sons, Darryl and Curtis.  I have not been able to contact either son to date,  but if a service is planned in the future,  I will pass that information on.
