Passing of Sgt. David Howard Bailey #3995
Calgary Police Service
MARCH 14, 1968 – SEPTEMBER 21, 2020

It is with heavy hearts that the family of David Howard Bailey announce his sudden passing on September 21, 2020. David will be lovingly remembered by his wife Marie; daughters Lauren, Chelsie and Kelly; as well as his three, soon-to-be four, grandchildren.

Sgt. Bailey joined the Calgary police in 2004 after four years with the West Midland Police in the United Kingdom. A 16-year member of the CPS, Sgt. Bailey began as a constable in District 6 and was promoted to Detective in 2011. As Detective, he worked in the Robbery/Economic Crimes Team, the Technical Investigations Unit and the District Support Unit. Most recently he took on the role of Sergeant in the Safer Communities, Opportunities and Resource Centre (SORCe) where he strengthened police and community relationships with many of our vulnerable citizens.

Sgt. Bailey was the recipient of the 10-year Distinguished Service Award and the Rob Vanderwiel Memorial Class Award.

Dave had the best smile and was always quick to share it with those around him. He cared deeply for the people he worked with, and the citizens he served. Dave was passionate about supporting the vulnerable members of our community and seemed to find his calling at SORCe, where he had a profound impact on partners and clients alike. He was an active member in Peer Support, lending a hand to any colleague who needed it.

A private family Funeral Service will be held at Southview Alliance Church.

In loving memory of David Bailey, donations can be made directly to Legacy Place Society, 25207 Bearspaw Place Calgary, AB T3R 1H5 or through www.Canadahelps.org/legacyplacesociety or E-Transfer to:   info@legacyplacesociety.com

A memorial fund in David’s name will support Calgary Police Service Peer Support Initiatives.
