Passing of Ronald (Ron) Tarrant #1150
  1931 - 2024

Sadly, I have to report that on April 26, 2024, our friend and brother, Ron Tarrant, passed away peacefully from complications after a serious fall. He was surrounded by his family at the time of his death. Ron was just shy of his 93rd birthday and was predeceased by his loving wife, Lina in 2016.
 
Ron was an icon in the Calgary Police Veterans Association. He was one of the founders of our Association in 1979 and passionate when it came to our Police Family. He served many years on our Board of Directors including the position of President. His dynamic and charismatic personality guided the CPVA towards what it is today. Ron was a mentor to me when I joined the Board of Directors in 2007. He was an amazing story teller with a wealth of life experience. From the Battle of Britain during WWII as a very young man during the bombing of London, to his service with the London Metropolitan Police, I was privileged to get to know Ron and hear some of his vivid memories from those days. Ron had a distinguished 30 year career with the Calgary Police Service retiring as a Superintendent. 
 
Never shy at the podium holding a microphone, Ron could always tell an eloquent story in a way that others would never get away with.
