Passing of Robert “Bob” Hall #1117

As with all our the CPVA fan outs, please do not repost on social media sites unless you get permission.

Thank you.

Further to last week’s health update, I am sorry to report that our friend and brother, Bob Hall, has passed away Tuesday April 16, 2024 at the age of 90. For the past several years Bob has resided at the Colonel Belcher long term care as he was a Korean War Veteran as well as a CPS Veteran. He and Hank Jackson were friends there and knew each other from service together at CPS.

Bob was born in Didsbury AB and enlisted at the age of 17 in the Lord Strathcona’s Horse (Royal Canadians) in 1951 and served two tours of duty in Korea as a Lance Corporal. In 1956 Bob joined the Calgary Police Service where he served until 1986 when he retired as a Staff Sergeant after 30 years. He is survived by a son, Brian Hall and daughters, Kathleen Pescod, Heather Hall and Colleen Hornberger. He was predeceased by his wife June Hall and daughter Laurie Skene.

I met Bob about 3 times over the past few years. Twice when visiting Hank Jackson and the last time, just a few weeks ago at his Dual Service Banner presentation. He was always in good spirits, quick to crack a joke and have a laugh. Watching him and Hank together, it was clear that they were good friends. Bob was very proud and grateful to accept his Banner and as I said to Vic DeBruyn, (the guy who works so hard to put these banners together),

“When you presented to Bob, you made an Old War Horse very happy.”

At Bob’s request, no funeral will be held. A private memorial will be hosted by the CPS at Colonel Belcher with family.

Condolences can be sent to Kathleen’s email:  grantpescod@live.com
