December has been a tough month with the passing of so many of our Police Family. Sadly, I have just received rather late notice that on April 12, 2022, our friend and sister, Gayle Edwards passed away at the age of 77. I am told that no obituary was published and I am unaware of any details regarding her death.

I reached out to her fellow classmate, John Middleton-Hope, who was able to provide some CPS history. Gayle was a member of Class 89 and was sworn in on December 15, 1980. As Gayle was a little bit older at the age of 35, she was affectionately referred to as “Mom” while in classes.

Gayle spent just over 17 years working in District 2 as well as in Communications, to name a few. On March 30, 1998, she honourably left the CPS.

Gayle was a member in good standing with the CPVA up until her death and was last known to have resided in the small Alberta community of Carmangay. She is survived by her spouse.
