Passing of Connie Merrick-Benson #7388

Sadly, I have learned that Connie Merrick-Benson passed away peacefully on Saturday March 29, 2025 at the age of 92. Connie was a civilian member of CPS from 1979 to 1996 when she retired. She worked in the Correspondence Unit and the Identification Section. She was very proud to have been a part of the Calgary Police Service and made many friends along the way, including our very own Ruth Bragg. 

Connie was the type of person who took care of her friends. This I know as she was also a longtime friend of my mother who passed away from Alzheimer’s in 2016. Connie would visit her often even near the end when my mom was not sure who she was. Connie was also an active member of the CPVA attending many luncheons and special events with her husband, Wayne Benson, making sure I got a hug when she saw me. 
 
Connie is survived by her daughter and grandson, Lonna Costa and Cody Rothe; her son Colin, his partner Nathaly Carmichael and her children Aiden and Charlotte. Connie was predeceased by her husband Wayne Benson and her son Ian Merrick.
