Passing of James “Jim” Malone #7113

I have just recently learned of the passing of one of our civilian members with 35 years’ service with CPS, Jim Malone, at the age of 74. He passed away in February 2026 on his own terms with the assistance of MAID. Jim spent his career in the Ident Section as a photo technician and in the Fingerprint Section. Many of us will remember Jim fondly.

Gary Petersen let me know of Jims passing and wrote the following: Jim came to work for CPS 35 years ago in the then Ident Section as a photo technician, after completing the course at NAIT. After splashing around with photo chemicals he transferred to the Fingerprint Section where he completed 35 years. Jim and Donna, his loving wife, now moved to PEI where they enjoyed numerous years buying and upgrading a 100 year old house on 10 acres.

Visitors came and went in the summer months while Jim and Donna escaped to Spain during the winter. A few years ago Jim’s medical conditions nixed the overseas travel thus allowing them to enjoy their winter. His health was deteriorating to the point that MAID was brought into the picture. This allowed Jim to slip away at the time and place of their choosing. He is survived by his wife of 50+ years. He was short in stature with a giant heart who would have touched many veterans during his tenure at CPS.

Thanks Gary for letting me know.
