Passing of Robert Gordon Humeston #1879

As with all our fan outs, please do not repost in whole or in part on any Social Media Site. Photographs and personal contact and medical information is contained within that is private and only intended for the use of CPVA members. Thank you.

Sadly, I have learned that our friend and brother, Rob Humeston, passed away on Tuesday March 25th, 2025 at the age of 73.  Rob went to hospital that day and died of complications with internal bleeding shortly thereafter.  Rob had been battling recurring brain tumors since 2000 and being hospitalized several times including a battle with sepsis in 2014 that left him struggling with his health into present times.

Rob joined the CPS in June of 1976.  During his career he was first posted to B5 where I met him as I was posted to B4 a year later. Rob spent time in Communications, the K9 Section, B2, 4-6, 1-1, the Vice Unit, 3-1, CIU, Ident and Victim Assistance. He retired in June of 2002.

Everyone who knew him knows that he was an exceptionally good Copper who worked hard and played hard.  He was one of the guys you wanted to be backing you up when you needed help as he was fearless.  Rob always could make you laugh with his annotations and his animated gestures.  Some of us may recall his nickname in his early days was Spiderman.  Rob’s love of his many dogs over the years was passionate to say the least.  His current dogs are now in good hands thanks to his daughters.  Those of us old enough to have policed with Rob will miss him dearly.

I spoke with his daughters’ Jenn and Natasha today and they related that although his hospitalization and passing was sudden and not expected on Tuesday, he was in no pain or distress when he died.  Both Jenn and Natasha are holding up fairly well and they came across as being brave, but I can tell that they are heartbroken.  Rob also leaves behind a son, Cody and a brother, Brian.

If you would like to offer your support to Robs’ family,  you can email them at:  fantasyridgefarms@gmail.com

I told them a few stories of when Rob and I were young policemen as well.  They seemed to appreciate those stories as well,  so if you want to relay some of your own,  I am sure that would be a good thing too.

A Celebration of Life has not yet been arranged, but when it is I will be sure to let everyone know.
