Serving CPS Member Cst. Scott Hoard #4075

From time to time, it comes to our attention that something bad happens to one or our Police Family members who are still serving. The CPVA has donated $500 on behalf of all of us. (These funds came from our general revenue not our own benevolent fund) S/Sgt Sueanne Ford, who is coordinating the Legacy Place Benevolent Fund for Scott emailed me today thanking us all for his support.

If you would like to make a personal donation to Scott and his family, a brief description of what happened to Scott and 2 ways you can make a donation to his fund is below.

For those of you who have had the pleasure to know Scott Hoard, you know that he forever changes who you are. He is an incredible soul with a genuine caring heart.

Last month, Scott was at home making dinner for his family when he started to feel ill. Almost immediately, Scott fell to the floor and suffered a grand mal seizure. Scott was rushed to the hospital and after many tests; Scott was diagnosed with a high grade glioma that is on the right side of his brain (brain tumour). On March 3, 2020, Scott underwent surgery and he will undergo chemo/radiation depending on the pathology of the brain tumour. Scott will be away from work for an undetermined amount of time. A fund has been established through the CPS Legacy Place Benevolence Fund to assist the family with out-of-pocket and other expenses.

Sworn, civilian and retired members can contribute to the CPS Legacy Benevolence Fund through any of the following methods:

1. Making a cheque payable to “CPS/Legacy Place Benevolence Program” and noting “Scott Hoard”. Cheques can be mailed to Mike Turcotte at the following address: 380 Hidden Ranch Circle NW, Calgary AB, T3A 5N7. He will deliver them to Staff Sgt. Sueanne Ford #2999.
2. Sending an e-transfer to info@legacyplacesociety.com . Please include a note directing the donation to “Scott Hoard” in the message, as well as the full name of the donor and mailing address to receive a tax receipt.

Any contributions are appreciated, no amount is too small. Lets show our love and support for the Hoard family!
