David Perkins beloved husband of Sandra Perkins (nee Kozan) of Calgary, AB, passed away on the morning of Tuesday, March 7, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.

David started his earthly journey here in Calgary, Alberta on January 15, 1958. At a very young age, his parents instilled in him a very strong moral and spiritual compass, and he continued through his life to be guided by it.

Dave knew early on in life that his career path was going to be in policing. In February 1979 he graduated from police college and went on to serve proudly with the Calgary Police Service for 25 years. During his time with CPS he thoroughly enjoyed playing with the NCO Hockey team and the Calgary police soccer team. He took retirement to embrace and start his new career as a stay-at-home Dad.

He cherished every day he spent with his beloved daughters, Michelle, and Ada. He nourished them with his great meals, never missed any of their games and was always there to drive them to school and back. He helped them where he could; being an excellent listener and always the voice of reason and sound advice when the girl’s sought answers to complex questions. He always prioritized their needs well above his own.

He nurtured all the mice, gerbils and guinea pigs the girls had as pets, giving them the same care and affection as he did with his beloved dogs. He was proud to work at their school, Clearwater Academy and was always willing to help with anything that was asked of him.

The work that he was most fulfilled by was his traffic and patrolling safety. His tenacity for ensuring the safety of all, especially children in and around the school was paramount. In all weather, he was there to ensure safety for all. Dave was a kind and thoughtful soul and will be missed and remembered by the many lives he touched. Among other things, Dave always loved wildlife. He would take great joy in watching birds at our feeder or look in awe when a moose would stray into our backyard. He had a love for gardening, and it truly showed in how beautiful they were each year. Dave also had a love of golf and enjoyed many rounds and also working as marshal and starter at his beloved Valley Ridge Golf course.

Besides his loving wife Sandra, Dave is survived by his two daughters Michelle and Ada; and his four dachshunds Charlie, Henri, Ike, and Ripley. Dave is also survived by his three brothers Ed (Joan), Mike (Rose) and Rob (Kathleen); two sisters Linda (Vern) and Margaret (Terry); and his in-laws; Douglas (Barbara) Kozan, Jerry (Jane) Kozan and Susan Kozan; As well as numerous beloved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Kathleen (nee Clark) and Edward Perkins, and his sister-in-law Allison Kozan and Sandra’s parents Julia (nee Ollinger) and George Kozan.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McInnis & Holloway Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary AB  on Saturday, March, 18, 2023 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church 5340 - 4th Street SW., Calgary AB on Tuesday, March 21,2023 at 2:00 p.m.  Graveside Service to follow at St Mary's Cemetery, with a reception to follow in the Church Hall. Passing of Dave Perkins #2209

Sadly, our brother and friend, Dave Perkins, passed away this morning, March 7, 2023, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Dave was the youngest of three brothers who served and retired from the Calgary Police Service, Bob and Ed Perkins. Dave was only 65 years old, much too young to have been taken from us.
Dave always made me smile with his sense of humor whenever we ran into each other. He was truly one of the good guys. Dave is survived by his wife, Sandra as well as two daughters, Michelle and Ada.
Currently no email address is available to send condolences, but when I do have one I will let you all know. Also, when a service is announced, I will relay that information as well.
